The festivities of the Cristo de la Cruz a Cuestas of Escalonilla (Toledo) are held from 6 to 15 September, with the main day on the 14th. They include novenas with the singing of motets in the church, which often overflow the building, the release of young cows (vaquillas) that draw people from the whole district, and a procession regarded as the area's religious act of greatest faith, devotion and attendance, which each year draws descendants of Escalonilla emigrants from various parts of Spain and abroad.
