La Vaquilla of Segurilla Activity · Segurilla, Sierra de San Vicente, Toledo Image of Segurilla, not of the place itself. La Vaquilla de Segurilla, the town's carnival festival, was traditionally celebrated on Ash Wednesday, although it was moved to the following Saturday afternoon to encourage participation. The village's young people invite those attending to a meal that always includes rice with salt cod; afterwards they perform a dance rehearsed in the preceding days that ends with the simulated death of the figure representing a heifer, after which a festive battle breaks out with confetti and paper streamers.
