The change of name of Cervera in 1916 Curiosity · Cervera de los Montes, Sierra de San Vicente, Toledo Image of Cervera de los Montes, not of the place itself. Until the 1916 reform of municipal naming, the village was called simply Cervera. On 2 July of that year, a royal decree published in the Gaceta de Madrid approved the reform proposed by the Real Sociedad Geográfica, which changed the names of 573 Spanish municipalities with repeated names, and the municipality officially became known as Cervera de los Montes.
