Mountain range of Nambroca Nature · Nambroca, Montes de Toledo, Toledo A mountain range belonging to the Montes de Toledo that runs from east to west south of the town of Nambroca, between the municipalities of Nambroca, Chueca and Burguillos de Toledo. Its notable peaks include cerro Marica, the highest at 944 metres, Cerro Gordo and pico de la Oliva, covered with holm oak, cork oak, Portuguese oak and pine woods, with rockrose, rosemary and thyme in the scrubland. Its rocks, granites and gneisses with quartzite ridges from the lower Palaeozoic, were folded during the Hercynian orogeny, between 390 and 310 million years ago. Its fauna includes wild boar, foxes, hares and rabbits, and occasionally the Spanish imperial eagle and griffon vulture. The range appears in a local weather saying: "If the sierra de Layos puts on its headscarf, go to Nambroca." Photo: Miguel Angel Masegosa Martínez (CC BY 2.0) What to see and do in Nambroca
