The sale of the town to Álvaro de Loaysa

Carlos I sold the town in the sixteenth century to don Álvaro de Loaysa, of a Talavera family, with which the place passed from the Order of Calatrava to a private seigneury. The hexagonal Calatravan castle was dismantled in those same decades.
