Firework Festivities of Valmojado Activity · Valmojado, La Sagra, Toledo Valmojado's (Toledo) fireworks fiestas have been organised since 1979 by the A.R.C. Pirotécnica La Alegría, founded by Manuel Albín Luque and other Valencians settled in the village, in honour of the Virgen de las Misericordias, on the first weekend of September. They combine Castilian toros de fuego with Valencian pyrotechnic customs such as the fireworks castle, the cordà, the despertà and one of the region's most important mascletà. Valmojado's fondness for pyrotechnics has been documented for almost three centuries: in 1725 the municipal books already recorded spending on rockets for the feast of Santo Domingo. Because of this mixture of traditions, the village is known as the Valencia of La Sagra or the little Valencia.
