The Viscounty of Canales y Chozas Curiosity · Chozas de Canales, La Sagra, Toledo Image of Chozas de Canales, not of the place itself. In the 17th century, Pedro Coloma y Escolano, secretary of state to Philip IV, acquired the depopulated settlements of Canales and Regachuelo along with the villages of Chozas and Yunclillos, and in 1680 received the viscountcy of Canales y Chozas, with which he established an entailed estate (mayorazgo). When his heirs died out, the lands passed to the bishopric of Calahorra and La Calzada; at the end of the 18th century a manor house from the time of the marquisate was still preserved there.
