Tower of Ben Cachón Monument · Las Herencias, La Jara, Toledo Image of Las Herencias, not of the place itself. The tower of Ben Cachón is an old fortification of Muslim origin located in Las Herencias (Toledo), in an area of small hills known as Los Castillos, next to the River Tajo, which attests to the Muslim occupation of the area before the Castilian resettlement of the 13th century. In 1801 it collapsed into the Tajo, dragging part of the ground of the ravine on which it stood and exposing archaeological remains; later excavations uncovered tombs with Arabic inscriptions. When the river level drops its remains can be seen, although the ground is usually muddy. Photo: Rodelar (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Las Herencias
