Greenway of la Jara

The Greenway of La Jara follows the route of the Talavera de la Reina-Villanueva de la Serena railway line, which was never completed, and runs for 52.4 kilometres between the foothills of the Montes de Toledo and the vega of the river Tajo, mostly through the region of La Jara, in the province of Toledo. It has seventeen tunnels and five viaducts amid Mediterranean woodland scenery, and is equipped for hiking, cycle touring and horse riding, forming part of the Natural Trails Network of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Since October 2021 it has remained closed to the public owing to the poor state of conservation of the route.
