Domingo de Carnaval de Valdeverdeja (Toledo), declared a Fiesta de Interés Turístico Regional (an official regional tourist-interest designation). Residents bring out the local traditional costume, inspired by the dress of Lagartera: the animeras wear richly embroidered bridal or farmwoman dresses, and the animeros dress in black with a red scarf and a halberd. The day includes a parade of soldadesca to the beat of drums, jota dances and the flag-bearer's movements with the flag.
