The lattice windows of Santa Coloma Historical milestone · Albendiego, Serranía de Guadalajara, Guadalajara The hermitage of Santa Coloma, on the right bank of the río del Manadero and next to its confluence with the Valdecobas stream, closes its Romanesque chancel with three windows of pierced lattice-work in Mudéjar tracery, unmatched in the sierra; it retains eight more in the side apses, though some of these have been removed. Built in the 12th century and extended in the 15th, it was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1965 and forms part of the monumental ensemble of rural Romanesque architecture in Guadalajara. The village was one of the 131 within the jurisdiction of Atienza chartered by Alfonso VII in 1149. siglo XII Photo: Rowanwindwhistler (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Albendiego
