The Carmelite foundations of Santa Teresa

Saint Teresa of Jesus arrived in 1569 at the invitation of the dukes and founded here two convents of the Carmelite reform, one of nuns and another of discalced friars. In the latter Saint John of the Cross professed as novice master in the community's first years.
