Monastery founded in 1572 in the hamlet of El Carmen. Saint Teresa of Ávila visited it in February 1580. It was founded by the noblewoman Catalina de Cardona, who had withdrawn to lead an eremitic life in a cave located next to the monastery itself; today only the remains of that building survive, close to the founder's cave.
