The two Salmeroncillos

The municipality is made up of two settlements, Salmeroncillos de Abajo, which is the capital, and Salmeroncillos de Arriba, with a little over one hundred inhabitants between them: 106 according to the INE (National Statistics Institute) in 2025. It lies 78 kilometres from the provincial capital, Cuenca, and about 150 from Madrid. It is the birthplace of the archaeologist, historian and politician Juan Catalina García López (1845-1911).
