Sierra Gorda Nature · Portalrubio de Guadamejud, La Alcarria Conquense, Cuenca Image of Portalrubio de Guadamejud, not of the place itself. Sierra Gorda, at 1,038 metres, is the highest mountain in the area of Portalrubio de Guadamejud (Cuenca). From its summit the neighbouring villages of Tinajas and Villalba del Rey can be seen, along with the Buendía reservoir and the landscape of the Alcarria; on clear days the lights of Madrid can even be seen, and even the Sierra de Guadarrama. A waymarked path, the Sendero de la Sierra Gorda, climbs to the summit starting from the site of El Portillo. Photo: Bbjj (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Portalrubio de Guadamejud
