What to see and do in Pineda de Gigüela

Pineda de Gigüela
Village
Pineda de Gigüela is a municipality in La Alcarria Conquense, in Cuenca, at 976 metres above sea level; until the 1916 reform of place names it was called simply Pineda. In the mid-19th century it had 597 inhabitants according to Pascual Madoz; today it has 58 (INE 2025). Its parish church of the Natividad de Nuestra Señora combines a slender 16th-century Renaissance tower, of four tiers topped with gargoyles, with an 18th-century Baroque portal and nave, in the shape of a Latin cross, with a main altarpiece and an 18th-century organ with beautiful paintings. Its territory also preserves the hermitage of Santa Ana, a single nave covered by a half-dome vault. The festivities are held on 26 July, Santa Ana, and on 7 October, Nuestra Señora del Rosario.
