The added name del Arroyo Curiosity · Canalejas del Arroyo, La Alcarria Conquense, Cuenca Image of Canalejas del Arroyo, not of the place itself. Until the reform of municipal nomenclature of 1916, a royal decree that changed the name of 573 Spanish municipalities to avoid confusion, the village was simply called Canalejas. The surname added, del Arroyo, does not refer to the Guadiela but to the single stream that runs through the town. The Guadiela marks the northern boundary of the municipal territory, opposite Villar de Ladrón, before entering the Buendía reservoir.
