Arrancacepas
Village
Arrancacepas is a municipality in the district of La Alcarria Conquense, in the province of Cuenca, 36 km from the provincial capital, which in the 18th century figured as an annex of Bólliga and did not obtain its own parish until the 19th. With barely 14 inhabitants (INE 2025), it lies at 937 m above sea level in the valley formed by the Viejo de Perales river, between a plateau to the north and a pass to the south, with a cold Mediterranean climate. In the valley irrigated vegetables and fruit trees are grown, wheat and nuts predominate on the plateaus, and on the slopes olive trees, vines and holm oaks grow alongside scrubland of lavender, rosemary and thyme that feeds the beehives of Alcarria honey. Its main monument is the parish church of San Gil Abad, from the 16th century, with the hermitages of San Roque and Santa Lucía.
