Hermitage-mausoleum of Llanes Monument · Albendea, La Alcarria Conquense, Cuenca The Ermita Mausoleo de Llanes, in the municipal territory of Albendea, was a Roman mausoleum from the mid or late 4th century that later served as the head of a hermitage, as an occasional shelter for travellers, as a manger and, finally, as a shelter for shepherds. The head of the building still stands, formed by three semicircular apses around a square central space, each covered by a slightly pointed barrel vault, while the central bay displays a groin vault. Beneath this structure lies a crypt with a Greek-cross plan, the only one detected in this geographical area. Built with brick on the inside and tufa stone on the outside, it also retains the beginning of a semicircular body next to the south apse, of a function not fully clarified, which may have been the base of a tower.
