The Republican airfield of Albendea

The municipal territory keeps the memory of a Republican airfield built in 1937 for the Civil War and of a century-old link with Spanish military aviation, made visible in the manoeuvres habitually carried out on its land by the UME, the Guardia Civil and the Army and Air Force. In 2025 this link was commemorated with an exhibition entitled La Alcarria, origen de la Aviación Militar, with materials lent by the Ejército del Aire, and with a Flag Tribute ceremony held on 30 August in the plaza del Coso, in which the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base took part.
