The Cañamares River in Carrizosa Nature · Carrizosa, Campo de Montiel, Ciudad Real The Cañamares river rises near the hamlet of the same name, which belongs to Villahermosa, at the spot known as Fuensomera, where it forms a small canyon that locals call el Pasadero. It skirts the sanctuary of the Virgen de la Carrasca, patroness of Villahermosa, and shortly afterwards enters the municipality of Carrizosa, which it crosses through its lower part at 824 metres above sea level, creating a green corridor amid the cereal fields, vineyards and olive groves of the Campo de Montiel; at times its floods have caused overflows. A few kilometres further on it flows into the Azuer river, of which it is a right-bank tributary, already within the Guadiana river basin.
