Archaeological site of la Encantada Nature · Granátula de Calatrava, Campo de Calatrava, Ciudad Real The La Encantada site, in the municipality of Granátula de Calatrava (Ciudad Real), is a fortified Bronze Age settlement located atop a hill with wide visual control over the valley and the routes of passage. Although only part of it has been excavated, its urban, funerary and architectural remains are key to understanding the Middle and Full Bronze Age of the Iberian Peninsula, specifically the variant known as the Manchegan Bronze, within the typology called Facies Castellones, distinct from the Argaric Culture. The groups who lived there kept in contact with people from the eastern Mediterranean, drawn by the metals of the nearby mountain ranges, which makes it possible to regard the site as a centre for the manufacture and distribution of minerals in the southern Meseta.
