La emancipación de Madrigueras

Madrigueras belonged to the Tierra de Alarcón and afterwards to Villanueva de la Jara; as its population grew it obtained during the eighteenth century the privilege of villa status, and in 1833 it passed from the province of Cuenca to the newly created province of Albacete.
