What to see and do in Balsa de Ves

Balsa de Ves
Village
Balsa de Ves is a municipality of La Manchuela, in Albacete, the last one before entering the Valencian Community, situated between the canyons of the Júcar and the Cabriel, at 739 m above sea level, with 121 inhabitants also distributed among the hamlets of Cantoblanco, La Pared and El Viso. After the Christian conquest of the district, in the early 13th century, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Villa de Ves, which received the charter of Cuenca from Alfonso X in 1272; once the border danger had receded, power moved from the castle, in a rugged spot above the canyons, to new hamlets on the plateau such as this one, until Balsa de Ves became independent in 1844. It retains dry-stone shepherd's huts and a network of springs that supplied the village.
