Peter I of Castile signed on 18 April 1364 at the Grao of Valencia the privilege that detached Alcalá from the jurisdiction of Jorquera and made it a town with its own ordinances and the Fuero de las Leyes, in the middle of the War of the Two Peters against the Crown of Aragon.
