Church of San Martín de La Gineta Monument · La Gineta, La Mancha del Júcar-Centro, Albacete A Gothic-Renaissance style church from the early 16th century, located on the calle de la Iglesia in La Gineta and declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's highest level of heritage protection) in 1992. It has a central nave of four bays covered with star vaults with carved bosses rising from fluted twisted pillars, a solution related to that of some churches in Murcia and to that of Villena, and side aisles with different vault solutions, among them the chapel of the Sagrario, a Baroque structure from the 18th century. The tower, divided into four stages, bears the town clock and is topped by an octagonal belvedere. It preserves a Baroque altarpiece from the 17th century by Sánchez Cordobés and Gothic mural paintings recently discovered, among them a Last Supper. Photo: Héctor S.
