Faro de Punta de Abona

Monument · Arico, Tenerife - Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife

A lighthouse on the coast of Arico, at Punta de Abona, between the lighthouses of Punta de Rasca and Anaga. It was first lit in 1902 with a range of 16 nautical miles, and in 1978 the original tower was replaced by the current one, which reaches 28.5 miles. Beside it stands the hermitage of Nuestra Señora de las Mercedes, rebuilt in the early 20th century on the site of an original 1514 building.
