Denominación de Origen Abona Food and drink · Arico, Tenerife - Abona, Santa Cruz de Tenerife Image of Arico, not of the place itself. A wine Denominación de Origen on the southern side of Tenerife, whose regulating council was created in 1995 and officially recognised in 1996, although the bottling and marketing of wine from the district — also called Chasna — dates back to the 1950s, when the Fasnia cooperative opened the first winery. It covers seven municipalities: Fasnia, Arico, Granadilla de Abona, San Miguel de Abona, Vilaflor, Arona and Adeje, with vineyards ranging from sea level up to the highest midlands in Spain, at Vilaflor. 1996 Photo: javiersanp (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Arico
