Cueva de los Verdes Nature · Haría, Lanzarote, Las Palmas Visitable stretch of a volcanic tube about 7 km long formed some 21,000 years ago by the eruption of the Corona volcano; it served as a refuge for the people of Lanzarote against Berber corsair attacks, and it gives its name to the Verdes family who used it as shelter for their livestock. It was illuminated for visits in 1964 and today also houses the seismological station of Lanzarote's geodynamic observatory. Photo: Lviatour (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Haría
