Molino de Firgas o del Conde Monument · Firgas, Gran Canaria - Centro-Norte, Las Palmas Image of Firgas, not of the place itself. Hydraulic gofio mill built around 1512-1517 at the initiative of the Countship of Vega Grande, on the road between Firgas and Valleseco. It operated continuously for more than four centuries until the drought of 1959 forced it to stop; restored afterward, it is considered the oldest gofio mill still working in the Canary Islands and was declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Spain's top heritage-protection category) in 2007. 2007 Photo: Toni Teror (CC BY 3.0) What to see and do in Firgas
