Villa Winter Curiosity · Pájara, Fuerteventura, Las Palmas Image of Pájara, not of the place itself. A mansion built between 1946 and 1954 in Cofete by the German engineer Gustav Winter (b. 1893), with thick walls, bricked-up doors, tunnels and a bunker that gave rise to never-proven legends about its supposed use as a Nazi submarine base during the Second World War. The house inspired literary works such as "Fuerteventura" (1999), by Alberto Vázquez-Figueroa, and "El contenido del silencio" (2011), by Lucía Etxebarria.
