Festivities of Morata de Jalón Activity · Morata de Jalón, Valdejalón, Zaragoza Image of Morata de Jalón, not of the place itself. The patron saint festivities of Morata de Jalón, in the Valdejalón region (Zaragoza), are held on 16 August in honour of San Roque and on 4 December in honour of Santa Bárbara, with numerous festive and religious events around those dates. The village's festive calendar is rounded out by other traditions: on San Antón and San Babil people go up the hill to gather thyme, which is tied into bundles and burned at night in the square, where it is customary to grill chorizos on the embers; on Jueves Lardero people go out to the hill to eat longaniza al palmo; and on San Juan and San Pedro, 24 and 29 June, people go to the countryside to eat panete, a sweet bread-shaped cake.
