The church of San Antonio de Padua of Lucena de Jalón, dating from the 16th century, stands in the hamlet of Berbedel. Pascual Madoz described it in the 19th century as an entry-level parish, served by a priest under the patronage of the Duke of Híjar, who held the right to appoint the parish priest.
