Chodes honours San Miguel Arcángel on 8 May and 29 September. The village moved in 1676 from the Peña de Iodos site and in 1852 absorbed neighbouring Villanueva de Jalón; its Mudéjar tower of Santa María de la Huerta was inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage list in 2001.
