Almonacid de la Sierra, which lost more than twelve hundred households with the expulsion of the Moriscos between 1610 and 1611, is the place where in the summer of 1884 workers found a cache of Arabic and Aljamiado manuscripts, one of the most important in Spain, now kept in Madrid.
