Walls of El Caracol Monument · Grisén, Ribera Alta del Ebro, Zaragoza Image of Grisén, not of the place itself. The walls of El Caracol, in Grisén (Zaragoza), correspond to the Jalón aqueduct, the most representative work of the Canal Imperial de Aragón, built in the 18th century to cross the río Jalón, the greatest obstacle along the canal's route. It is a limestone ashlar aqueduct 60 metres long, formed by four arches with a 9.75-metre span separated by piers 3.75 metres thick; the whole structure extends for more than 2 kilometres, of which 1,380 metres run between stone walls. The site also preserves the spiral-staircase tower, the San Martín beacon and the Casa de las Paradas. Photo: Millars (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Grisén
