Royal Gunpowder Factories of the Jiloca Historical milestone · Villafeliche, Comunidad de Calatayud, Zaragoza Image of Villafeliche, not of the place itself. The powder mills driven by the Jiloca made the town the greatest powder centre in Spain: some 165 devices in 1764 and close to two hundred by around 1800, with saltpetre from Épila and sulphur from Teruel. Fernando VII closed the royal factories and clandestine production went on until 1964. 1764-1830 Photo: Diego Delso (CC BY-SA 3.0) What to see and do in Villafeliche
