Oppidum of the Belli whose enlargement of walls served Rome as a pretext for the Celtiberian war. In 153 BC its inhabitants, allied with the Arevaci of Numantia, defeated the army of Quintus Fulvius Nobilior; after the setback Rome brought the consular year forward to 1 January.
