Riverside woodland of Pastriz Nature · Pastriz, Comarca Central, Zaragoza Image of Pastriz, not of the place itself. The Soto de Pastriz is a riverside woodland of the Ebro, within the river's green corridor, forming part of the Reserva natural dirigida de los Sotos y Galachos del Ebro, declared on 8 April 1991 with an area of 1,536.7 hectares, to which is added a peripheral protection zone of a further 1,563.8 hectares spread across nine municipalities, among them Pastriz. Moving away from the water, tamarisks, willows, black poplars and narrow-leaved ashes appear, in that order, and colonies of heron-family birds are frequent, such as the black-crowned night heron. The stretch is included within the SCI and SPA Galachos de La Alfranca de Pastriz, La Cartuja y El Burgo de Ebro, part of the Natura 2000 network.
