Alfonso II bequeathed Mediana to his son Pedro II, who sold it to Pedro Sesé. In 1368 Juan Martínez de Luna transferred the castle and the place to Blasco Fernández de Heredia. The seigneurial regime was maintained until the municipality became independent in 1834.
