The Salada of Mediana and sodium sulphate

The salt lagoon of the district of Mediana was exploited in the nineteenth century to obtain sodium sulphate, used in the glass and soap industries. The activity gave work to a population that in 1848 exceeded one thousand three hundred inhabitants.
