Riverside Woods of the Ebro at El Burgo de Ebro Nature · El Burgo de Ebro, Comarca Central, Zaragoza Image of El Burgo de Ebro, not of the place itself. The riverbanks and riparian woods of the Ebro at El Burgo de Ebro form part of the Reserva Natural Dirigida de los Sotos y Galachos del Ebro, in the middle stretch of the river valley, about 14 kilometres from Zaragoza, in the Aragonese Comarca Central. This area preserves the galacho of El Burgo de Ebro, a former meander abandoned by successive changes in the riverbed, which together with the galachos of La Alfranca and La Cartuja makes up the reserve. On the banks, almost permanently flooded, meadows of paspalum grow beside the river, along with reedbeds and bulrushes in the galachos themselves.
