Church of Santa María la Mayor de Uncastillo Monument · Uncastillo, Cinco Villas, Zaragoza Romanesque church of Uncastillo, in the Cinco Villas, built between 1135 and 1155 at the expense of King Ramiro II of Aragon over an earlier 10th-century Mozarabic church; for centuries it was the town's main temple and came to hold collegiate status. Rectangular in plan and with a single nave with a semicircular apse, it stands out for its rich sculpture, attributed to the Master of Oloron, which decorates the archivolts of the south doorway, the lintel of the western atrium and the corbels of the apse. In the 14th century a Gothic tower was added, and in the 16th a Renaissance cloister and a Gothic choir; in the 17th century the chapel of the Santo Cristo was added, along with the atrium that replaced the old west doorway, on which a stone epiphany was placed.
