Defence Tower of Cosuenda Monument · Cosuenda, Campo de Cariñena, Zaragoza Image of Cosuenda, not of the place itself. The defensive tower of Cosuenda (Campo de Cariñena, Zaragoza), known as la Lisalta, is all that remains of the castle of Cosuenda, whose construction was ordered in the 14th century in the face of the threat of Castilian invasion. The castle was destroyed in the battle with the Castilians and was rebuilt in the late 14th century by order of the archbishop of Zaragoza García Fernández de Heredia; the tower, in Gothic-Toledan style due to its twin windows, was modified in the 16th century. Square in plan with five-metre sides, it stands at the most strategic corner and came to house two bells and two small cymbala, as well as a third, smaller cymbalum. It was restored in 2019 and today once again dominates the village. Photo: 19Tarrestnom65 (CC BY-SA 4.0) What to see and do in Cosuenda
