Aguarón, at the foot of the sierra de Algairén, sits between 400 and 800 m on reddish limestone soils and divides its district among the vineyards of the Cariñena Designation of Origin. The semi-arid landscape, with frequent winds and torrential watercourses, once attracted Goya and, more recently, the filmmaker Julio Medem.
