Almonacid de la Cuba sits on the slope of the gorge carved by the river Aguasvivas as it passes through the sierra de Belchite, amid a steppe landscape. The contrast between the white limestone of the mountains and the riverside vegetation and the valley's symmetrical market gardens can be seen from the mirador del Mojón del Lobo, next to the well-preserved 1st-century Roman dam, 34 metres high.
