The church of San Miguel de Sestrica, from the 17th century, was listed in Madoz's 19th-century description as a parish of ascenso rank, whose priest was appointed by the Count of Aranda and who had a coadjutor. Although the temple is under the dedication of San Miguel, the village's patron is San Bartolomé.
