Gotor's winter festival is held in a valley where Jaime I granted in 1250 the barony that ended up in the hands of the Martínez de Luna family, and on whose cerro del Calvario a Celtiberian settlement devoted to iron metallurgy was destroyed around the year 74 BC, during the Sertorian Wars.
