French destruction of the Tremedal sanctuary

During the Peninsular War the Napoleonic troops burned the sanctuary of the Virgen del Tremedal and caused serious damage in the locality. The temple did not reopen until 1884, rebuilt under the direction of the architect Fernando Yarza.
