Festivities of Jabaloyas Activity · Jabaloyas, Sierra de Albarracín, Teruel Image of Jabaloyas, not of the place itself. The festivities of Jabaloyas centre on the pilgrimage (romería) of San Cristóbal, the village's patron saint, held every 10 July, which climbs up to the hermitage raised on the summit of Mount Javalón, at 1695 metres of altitude. It is a simple building of traditional construction, with hardly any ornament beyond the bell-gable (espadaña) added in the 2009 restoration; its origin is uncertain, although Madoz already mentioned it in the mid-19th century. In the past people climbed on foot or on the backs of decorated mounts, and some devotees climbed barefoot as an offering; today it is reached by vehicle along the Alobras track. The day includes mass and a procession with the image of the saint, followed by a communal meal. Photo: Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA) What to see and do in Jabaloyas
